Free Covid-19 Treatments Available in Massachusetts

With the recent, dramatic uptick in cases both in the county and here in Washington, the Board of Health wants to remind residents that Massachusetts has effective treatments for COVID-19 that are free and available. These treatments can prevent hospitalizations and reduce the risk of becoming very ill.

Treatment is appropriate for people who test positive for COVID-19 and have symptoms, even mild ones (such as a runny nose or sore throat), and who are at increased risk of severe disease. Treatment should be started within five days of developing symptoms, the sooner treatment is started, the more effective it is.

Several treatments, including monoclonal antibody infusions and oral therapeutics, are widely available across the Commonwealth. Residents who think they may be eligible and have questions on whether treatment is right for them should contact their medical provider or call the COVID-19 Self-Referral Treatment Line at (508) 213-1380.

These treatment options have been authorized by the FDA for the treatment of COVID-19 in individuals ages 12 and over who are at higher risk for severe COVID-19 illness.

Two public service videos promoting treatment have been provided by the MA Dept of Public Health:
