Washington was incorporated in the year 1777 and was one of the first towns named after George Washington, then still only a General. It is located in the hills of central Berkshire County along what was once the main stage route from Boston, MA, to Albany, NY, and has a population of just under 500 residents. With more than 20,000 acres of forest and conservation land, including October Mountain State Forest, Washington is a great place to enjoy the natural beauty of western Massachusetts.
