The Washington Municipal Light Plant (MLP) was formed to oversee contruction and to manage the operation of the Town’s fiber network.

The Washington MLP is a charter member of the WiredWest cooperative, formed by several town MLPs to operate our networks collectively. By consolidating overhead and expenses, membership in the co-op reduces the administrative burden, overall cost, and the risk to towns of operating a municipal broadband network.

The WiredWest co-op currently contracts with Whip City Fiber, a municipal entity in Westfield, to be the ISP/NO for member towns, delivering internet service over their networks and providing customer service and tech support.

The MLP Manager is appointed and overseen by the Municipal Light Board.
