Girl Scouts
Girl Scouts has had a local troop in Washington and Becket for many years. We welcome girls of all ages; grades K -12 and currently have enough adult volunteers for a troop of 20 girls.
Girl Scout levels
Daisy: Grades K and 1
Brownie: Grades 2 and 3
Junior: Grades 4 and 5
Cadette: Grades 6, 7 and 8
Senior: Grades 9 and 10
Ambassador: Grades 11 and 12
Meetings are held every Wednesday evening from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. We meet in two separate groups, each group meeting twice a month; from mid-September to mid-June. A typical meeting involves a craft, snack and badge work. We also have an annual pumpkin carving, a secret gift exchange and holiday party, an annual campout at the Washington Town Park, participation in community service projects, an end of the year celebration and "bridging" ceremony (for girls moving up to the next level), and we march in the Becket Memorial Day parade.
Our annual cookie sale runs from mid-January to mid-March and includes one or two cookie booths held at the Washington Town Park.
If your daughter is interested in joining our troop, please contact us to inquire about available space in the troop. The registration fee to join Girls Scouts is $35, paid to the Central and Western Mass Council and Girl Scouts USA. Our troop does not charge weekly dues.
