Select Boards Set to Interview Candidates for Shared Town Administrator

The Select Boards of Washington and Middlefield will be meeting together to interview final candidates for the Shared Town Administrator position on Saturday, June 3, at the Washington Town Hall.

A total of twelve applications were received this time around. A Joint Screening Committee met three times to sift through and evaluate the applications. Following preliminary interviews with the top candidates, the Committee recently forwarded three recommendations to the two Select Boards:

Kathleen Frenette served most recently as the Director of Finance and Administration for the Town of Gorham, NH (pop. 2,698) working directly with and under the Town Manager. Prior to that, she was Chief Operations Officer and Co-Executive Director of the North Country Council, a regional planning commission serving northern New Hampshire, where she oversaw the administration of human resources, operations, and financial management. Kathleen got her Bachelor’s Degree in Financial Management from Granite State College in New Hampshire and has completed some Graduate level courses in Business Administration at Plymouth State University, also in New Hampshire.

Sean Curran is a current member of the Springfield City Council and a former State Representative. He is a practicing attorney, licensed investment advisor, and real estate broker. He has worked as a criminal prosecutor in the Office of the Hampden County District Attorney and as a former Assistant City Solicitor in Springfield. Sean holds a B.A. in Political Science from Saint Anselm College in Manchester, NH, and obtained his J.D. from Suffolk University Law School.

George Zoukee began his career as a Senior Financial Analyst with the Office of the Finance Director of the City of Boston. He also spent time with the MA Dept. of Revenue Division of Local Services as Capital Finance Manager. Other positions include Executive Director of the New Hampshire Municipal Bond Bank for many years, Treasurer of the New York City Municipal Water Finance Authority, and Associate Administrator for Business and Finance Development with the U.S Dept. of Transportation Maritime Administration. George earned his Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Urban Studies from Hampshire College in Amherst and a Master of Business Administration from Boston University Graduate School of Management.

After the in-person interviews with the three finalists, the Select Boards plan to deliberate, with the goal of selecting a candidate to offer the position to and to enter into negotiations with.

With luck, we hope to have a new Town Administrator on board soon after the start of the new fiscal year in July.
